COUNCILMAN LUIS A. APONTE Leads the Members of the City Council and the Assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

 

 

APPROVAL OF RECORDS

 

              Journal of Proceedings No. 13 of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held April 21, 2011 and Journal of Proceedings No. 10 of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held March 15, 2012, and posted on September 13, 2012 on that Bulletin board located on the ground level of City Hall, are approved, as printed, on Motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

 

PRESENTATION OF ORDINANCE

 

              COUNCILMAN YURDIN:

 

              An Ordinance in Amendment of Chapter 14, Article XI of the Code of Ordinances Entitled: “Registration and Licensing of Bicycles,” As Amended.

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Ordinance to the Committee on Ordinances.

 

 

 

PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS

 

              COUNCILMAN APONTE:

 

              Resolution Authorizing the President of the City Council to Establish a Commission on Housing and Community Development.

 

              Read and Passed, on Motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

               The Motion for Passage is Sustained.

 

 

              COUNCILMAN CORREIA:

 

              Resolution Requesting the Traffic Engineer to cause the installation of “25 MPH Speed Limit” Signs along Edgemere Avenue.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Traffic Engineer to cause the installation of “Slow Children” Signs along Edgemere Avenue.

 

COUNCILMAN YURDIN Moves to Dispense with the reading of the foregoing matters.

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Several Resolutions to the Committee on Public Works.

 

 

Resolution Requesting the Traffic Engineer to cause the replacement of the faded “Stop” Sign located along Maynard Street at Rushmore Avenue.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Acting Director of Public Works to cause the repair of the sidewalk located in front of 53 Glenbridge Avenue.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Acting Director of Public Works to cause the repair of the sidewalk located in front of 106-108 Dover Street.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Forestry Division of the Parks Department to cause the removal of the tree located in front of 77 Fairview Avenue.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Building Inspector to secure the property located at 17 Erastus Street.

 

              Resolution Requesting the Building Inspector to cause the properties located at 1035 Atwells Avenue and 163 Pomona Avenue to be forwarded to the Housing Court for immediate action.

 

COUNCILMAN YURDIN Moves to Dispense with the Reading of the foregoing matters and Moves Passage of the Several Resolutions, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

              The Motion for Passage of the Several Resolutions is Sustained.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND REPORTS

 

              Communication from Alan R. Sepe, Acting Director, Department of Public Property, relative to the sale of land located on Allens Avenue, Assessor’s Plat 101, Lot 4.

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Communication to the Committee on City Property.

 

              Report of the Public Utilities Commission, relative to the restoration of streets and sidewalks.

             

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Receives the foregoing Communication.

              Resolution Extending Congratulations. 

          RESOLVED, That the Members of the City Council hereby extend their Sincere Congratulations to the following:

 

The Marcolivio Family, in recognition of 48 years of commitment and dedication to providing exemplary service in the operation of Julio’s Family Restaurant at 1488 Mineral Spring Avenue.

 

Nicole Narducci, in recognition of the celebration of her 30th Birthday, born on August 31, 1982.

 

Firefighter Joseph Arsenault, Engine Company 10, Group “B”, in recognition of the celebration of his retirement after 21 years of dedicated service to the Providence Fire Department.

 

Tyrone DiStasi, Jairo Dominguez, Justin Wyman & Patrick Madden, in recognition of the celebration of the Grand Opening of “The Grande Boutique Restaurant Francais” at 224 Atwells Avenue.

PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS “IN MEMORIAM”

On motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUDCI, it is voted to Suspend Rule 16(b) of the Rules of the City Council in order to allow the introduction of the following Matters Not Appearing on the Printed Docket.

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON (By Request):

 

              An Ordinance Amending Ordinance Chapter 2011-29, No 419, Establishing a Tax Exemption  and Stabilization Plan for Victory Square in the City of Providence Knowledge District.

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Ordinance to the Special Committee on Ways and Means.

 

             

              COUNCILWOMAN MATOS (By Request):

 

              An Ordinance in Amendment of Chapter 27 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Providence, Entitled: “The City of Providence Zoning Ordinance,” Approved June 27, 1994, As Amended, to change the Zoning Designation of Lot 489 on Plat 105 at  103 Dike Street from C-2 to M-1.

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Ordinance to the  Committee on Ordinances.

 

 

PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTION

              Resolution Authorizing Approval of the following sole source contract awards by the Board of Contract and Supply, in accordance with Section

21-26 of the Code of Ordinances:

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT SOLOMON Refers the Resolution to the Special Committee on Ways and Means.
