WARRANT FOR SPECIAL MEETING

 

              Warrant of the City Clerk to Vincent J. Berarducci, City Sergeant with Return Certification that he has notified each Member of the City Council of the Special Meeting Called for the 4th day of February, 2010 Upon The Rise of the 7:00 o’clock City Council Meeting, in the City Council Chamber, Third Floor, City Hall.

VETO

 

              Consideration of Mayor David N. Cicilline’s, VETO of the Ordinance Entitled: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 18½, “Police,” Section 18½-2, “Providence External Review Authority (PERA).” 

 

              COUNCILMAN HASSETT Moves to Override the Mayo’s Veto, seconded by COUNCILMAN DELUCA, by the Following Roll Call Vote:

             

AYES:              COUNCIL PRESIDENT MANCINI, COUNCILMEN APONTE, DELUCA, COUNCILWOMAN DIRUZZO, COUNCILMEN HASSETT, IGLIOZZI, JACKSON, LUNA, NARDUCCI, SOLOMON, TEJADA and COUNCILWOMAN YOUNG – 12.

 

NAYES:              NONE.

 

ABSENT:              COUNCILMEN LOMBARDI, WOOD and YURDIN – 3.

 

              The Motion to Override the Mayor’s Veto is Sustained.

 

 

PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTION

 

COUNCIL PRESIDENT MANCINI:

 

              Resolution Requesting to hire an attorney under the provisions of Section 401(d), of the Providence Home Rule Charter of 1980, as amended, for the purpose of representing the city council with regard to the lawsuit filed relative to the Ordinance Entitled: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 18 ½, “Police,” Section 18½-2, “Providence External Review Authority (PERA)”, in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00. 

 

              COUNCIL PRESIDENT MANCINI Refers the Resolution to the Committee on Finance.

 

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

              There being no further business, on Motion of COUNCILMAN HASSETT, seconded by COUNCILMAN DELUCA, it is voted to adjourn at 7:50 o’clock P.M. (E.S.T.), to meet again THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2009 at 7:00 o’clock P.M. (E.S.T.)
