Communication filed with the City Clerk January 31, 2012, in accordance with Sections 406 of the Providence Home Rule Charter of 1980 and Rule Number 3 of the Rules of the City Council, Requesting a Special Meeting of the City Council to be Called on the 2nd day of February, 2012 Upon The Rise of the 7:00 o’clock P.M. Regular City Council Meeting, in the City Council Chamber, Third Floor, City Hall.

              Warrant of the City Clerk to the City Sergeant with Return Certification that he has notified each Member of the City Council of the Special Meeting Called for the 2nd day of February, 2012 Upon The Rise of the 7:00 o’clock P.M. COUNCILMAN JOHN J. IGLIOZZI, Chairman 

 

              Transmits the Following with Recommendation the Same be Severally Approved:

 

Film Production Agreement for Documentary Series Parking Wars between Hybrid Films, Inc. and the City of Providence Police Department. 

 

COUNCILMAN YURDIN Moves to Table this matter, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

              Communication dated January 13, 2012, Informing the Honorable Members of the City Council that pursuant to Sections 302(b) and 814 of the Providence Home Rule Charter of 1980, as amended and Public Law, Chapter 45-50, Sections 1 through 31 passed in 1987, he is this day appointing Edward Troiano of 123 Wyndham Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island 02908, as a member of the Board of Tax Assessment and Review for a term to expire on January 31, 2015, and respectfully submits the same for your approval. 

 

COUNCILMAN YURDIN Moves to Receive and Approve the foregoing Communication, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

              Communication dated January 13, 2012, Informing the Honorable Members of the City Council that pursuant to Sections 302(b) and 814 of the Providence Home Rule Charter of 1980, as amended and Public Law, Chapter 45-50, Sections 1 through 31 passed in 1987, he is this day appointing Charles P. Fitzgerald of 447 Eaton Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02908, as a member of the Board of Tax Assessment and Review for a term to expire on January 31, 2015, and respectfully submits the same for your approval.

 

COUNCILMAN YURDIN Moves to Receive and Approve the foregoing Communication, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

 

 

COMMITTEE ON URBAN REDEVELOPMENT, RENEWAL AND PLANNING

COUNCILMAN NICHOLAS J. NARDUCCI, JR., Chairman

 

              Transmits the Following with the Recommendation the Same be Approved, As Amended:

 

Resolution Requesting to re-name Sackett Street Recreation Center the “Councilman Miguel C. Luna Recreation Center.”

             

COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI Moves to Amend the Resolution to delete Sackett Street Recreation and insert “Elmwood Community” and delete “recreation” and insert “community, seconded by COUNCILMAN YURDIN.

 

COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI Moves Passage of the resolution, As Amended, seconded by COUNCILMAN YURDIN.

 

              The Motion for Passage is Sustained.

 

Transmits the following with the Recommendation the Same be Severally Approved:              

 

              Resolution Requesting the State of Rhode Island, Department of Transportation, to re-name the Union Avenue Bridge the “Alexis Silva Bridge.”

 

              Read and Passed, on Motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

              The Motion for Passage is Sustained.

             

Resolution Requesting to name the new Municipal Building, located at 444 Westminster Street the “Mayor Joseph A. Doorley Municipal Building.”

 

Read and Passed, on Motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI.

 

              The Motion for Passage is Sustained.

 

 

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

              There being no further business, on Motion of COUNCILMAN YURDIN, seconded by COUNCILMAN NARDUCCI, it is voted to adjourn at 7:50 o’clock P.M. (E.S.T.), to meet again THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2012 at 7:00 o’clock P.M. (E.S.T.)
